Greenville County cattle farm offers elevated camping experience

Camping can be the perfect escape when you are looking to reconnect with nature – fishing, exploring, and cooking over an open flame. But these camping daydreams often come with unanswered questions. What equipment do I need to bring? How will I set it up?

WYLDStay, a “streamlined camping experience,” answers these questions and offers a way for people to connect to the outdoors in comfort. Their team supplies all the camping gear and will set up the campsite.

It was founded by the makers of luxurious Bushtec Safari Tents. Campers simply pick their location, select a tent package, and arrive at a ready campsite. Tents vary but can feature queen-sized beds, separate back rooms, and even covered verandas.

Owner Richard Flaks and his team chose a Fountain Inn location as one of the first four offered. The others are Paris, Texas; the Grand Canyon in Williams, Arizona; and Rising Fawn, Georgia.

When considering locations, WYLDStay sought “a unique feature behind every one of the properties,” Flaks said.

What sets the Upstate location apart is not just the 30 acres of lush trees but the farm animals on the property. Highland cattle and horses wander the pastures. Guests also have access to the property’s amenities, which include a specialty coffee tent, three ponds available for kayaking and paddleboarding, fishing access, air-conditioned tents, and the opportunity to visit and feed the cows.

You can even request food deliveries to your campsite. WYLDStay Greenville partnered with Curean to provide catering, allowing visitors to request sandwiches, charcuterie boards, s’mores kits, and more. The goal was to “make it a five-star dining experience, but glamping,” says Greenville owner Catherine Brickey.

Brickey opened the Greenville location to share her love for the outdoors and animals. All of her cows have names and respond when called. Brickey prides herself on the location’s amenities and understands that people need interesting things to do on their vacations.

“It’s the first one of its kind in the country,” Brickey said. “You don’t have that opportunity to stay the night on property on a Highland cattle farm yet.”
